Thank you for showing up at the hospital.
It's only appropriate, after all.
I felt you there before I even breathed in the sanitary air.
I breathed for you where you couldn't.
And the hallway seemed like one thousand miles of outstretched highway.
And you were at the end.
But you walked.
And my heart ran.
When you kept walking, with only a nod of recognition at my stares, I sank.
I sank into the concrete of that highway hallway.
And then I ripped through the floor.
And I smiled.
Because whenever I have a child of my own, I will picture you walking down the hallway, filled with joy.
The hospital is your stomping ground.
And it's only appropriate, after all.
