Sports Fans. Is there any more raw, bold act of dedication in our time? Really.
The heart-wrenching sweat, the mouth-full of nachos and cheese yelling out the most obscene phrases with curse words you didn't even know could be curse words. The tattoos of "their" team's logo, the hat, the shirt, the pants, and even, yes, the shoes that all scream "I love the ____'s." The fear and utter shame, the terrifying gravity that pulls their eyes to the peanut shell-covered floor when the other team pulls ahead. And then the hope, the faith, and the beautiful happiness in their eyes when one act leads them to a chance at victory. They raise their hands to the heavens above, as if the stars are pulling their spirits. And what's more than the unification of two brutal fans? And to them, there is no stronger bond than their chest-pounding and hand-slapping. And let us not forget the pure hate and disgust for the other team, their coach, and much greater - their fans.
Brutal? Yes.
But where is your passion? Is it in art, in love, in music?
Go ahead, spit your nachos out and praise whatever it is that keeps you going.
Be passionate about something, and hopefully it will grow into a sweet, broad passion for life in and of itself.
